Smallville Executive Producers Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson; The CW Network; and Warner Bros. Television have released a joint statement regarding Michael Rosenbaum’s departure from the show:

“It has been an honor and pleasure to work with Michael for the past seven seasons. He is one of the best actors on television and has never failed to bring a new layer to the character of Lex Luthor in every episode. While Michael won’t be a series regular and we won’t have the pleasure of working with him on a weekly basis this fall, we like to think that we haven’t seen the last of Lex Luthor. Stay tuned."

The network has announced two new characters that will be joining the cast of Smallville next season: the legendary, unstoppable Doomsday, and a female antagonist who will challenge Clark in ways never before imagined. Casting is underway for both roles.


Doomsday: In season eight, Clark will face his ultimate challenge with the appearance of the legendary, unstoppable destroyer Doomsday, who appears on “Smallville” for the first time. As comic book fans know, Doomsday is notorious for being the only character in the DC Comics universe to have killed Superman.

Female villain: Doomsday won’t be Clark’s only nemesis in the upcoming season. The executive producers are tight-lipped about a new female villain they will be introducing, but they can say she will be familiar to many fans and will set her sights on Clark in ways Lex never could. Intelligent, brilliantly manipulative, and dangerously sinister, our gorgeous new villain has one more weapon in her arsenal: Her mutual attraction with Clark may prove to be as deadly as kryptonite for him.

Dear Smallville Fans,

Well, it's been seven wonderful years. Your support is what has made Smallville so successful, and I appreciate you all more than you know.

That being said, it is time for me to start the next chapter of my life and career. I hope that I gave you some enjoyment over the years, and that you found my portrayal of Lex Luthor to be satisfying. I am truly grateful, as Smallville fans are the best fans out there. I sincerely hope that you will continue to follow my career through my hair growth period and beyond.

I'm very excited about what the future holds, but certainly, Smallville will always be a part of me. I will definitely miss the greatest crew in the world, and the wonderful cast that has been like a family to me.

Thank you Al and Miles for creating the show. Thank you writers, producers, directors and editors. Thanks Tollin, Robbins and Davola for being there for the pilot. Thank you Peter Roth for employing me for ten years. Lisa Lewis, I miss you already. John Glover, thanks for helping me feel more comfortable touching other actors, while acting. Bizarre, but helpful.

Une "villaine", "gorgeous", et que les fans reconnaîtront, ça vous fait penser à qui ?

Ouais, j'espère qui ne nous foutrons pas un imbécile d'humain comme pour Mxyptlk... Doomsday, y faut que ce soit un monstre, un gros pas beau avec plein de piquants et très en colère, voilà!

je suis bien d'accord avec toi, cette fois-ci faut qu'il nous la joue vraiment méchant gros monstre, même si j'aimerais déjà aussi en savoir plus sur cette mystérieuse nouvelle "bad girl"...

claiming he saved her life a few years ago. She carries out his wishes with coercion, force, seduction and anything to get what she wants, and no one can resist her beguiling ways. Even Clark Kent. She doesn't remember anything before the day she met Lex. Once she realizes her previous life is buried below the surface, she's desperate to dig it

C'est à voir...

En tout cas, je ne suis pas certaine, si c'est le cas, que cette interprétation me plaise. Je préfère le Doomsday de la BD, qui surgit de nulle part et qui sème la mort et la désolation sur son passage, sans origine, et surtout qui n'est pas un simple humain avec des pouvoirs...

Pour l,autre, je crois que ça peut très bien être le cas. En tout cas, ce serait intéressant. Miss Tessmacher à toujours été assez mysétirueuse, parce qu'on ne sait pas torp d'où elle vient ou quoi.

Pour l'un comme pour l'autre, je vais suivre les développements.

pour Miss Tessmacher pourquoi pas, même si elle n'est pas l'alter-ego de Lex dans sa manière d'être et d'agir, m'enfin, à la rigueur....

mais pour doomsday, comme tu le dis, ce n'est pas du tout un "type" à la "hulk" qui se transformera pour semer la pagaille... il n'est là que pour semer le chaos et la mort !

Je suis parfaitement d,accord. C,est de tuer l'essence même du personnage que de le faire de cette manière, selon moi. Peut-être que je pense un peu dans l,extrème, mais voilà ce que je penses. Doomsday, tant qu'à le ridiculiser de al sorte, autant ne pas le faire du tout.

quand j'ai vu le "Ace-Bar", j'ai d'abord cru à Bibbo, hélas...

DAVIS BLOOME: The "screen test" scenes involving Davis Bloome take place at the Ace O'Clubs bar. All of his scenes involve his character interacting, and in some ways dangerously flirting with, Lois.
- They first meet when Lois comes into the bar with a guy on her mind - a "really confusing, mysterious and oddly sexy friend."
- Later, Davis wakes up on the couch at the Ace O'Clubs with stains of blood on his hand. He claims it's because a waitress broke a tray of glasses. Or is it something else, something more violent?
- Davis aggressively demands that Lois not tell anyone about what she sees.

TESS: Tess introduces herself to Clark as she is snooping around the Kent Farm, and Clark catches her.
- She is introduced as the person who is in charge of Lex Luthor's estate "in his absence." She also knows very well about the Kents' connections to Lionel Luthor.
- In another scene, Tess confronts Jimmy in the Daily Planet archive room, and knows all about the deal that he had made to work for Lex.
